I would like more information on Quakerism and their acceptance of being a lesbian. I stumbled upon the religion doing a paper for class on gay marriage and I have a personal interest in this due to being kicked out of my own church

kaypurity, there's good information about Quakers and our history and beliefs at, and the site mentioned at the end of the above post is a great compilation of Quaker blogs.

The site can also help you find a Meeting near you, which is probably the best way to get a feel for the Spirit of your local Quaker community. Many unprogrammed Quaker Meetings in the US are welcoming of sexual minority folks, but it's best to think of it as a Meeting by Meeting issue.

I'm very sorry to hear that your religious community kicked you out... their loss! Many people come to Quakerism as spiritual refugees of one sort or another.
